Folder detail

The folder detail page is where you consult and organise everything a folder contains. Opening a folder from the folders list or from a breadcrumb brings you here: it lists the folder's children, shows its title and description, and gives you the action menus to create, share and manage content. Folders are the backbone of organisation in the Space — a tree of root folders and sub-folders that hold your documents, Constellab documents, notes, scenarios, resources and applications.

Opening a folder

Open a folder by double-clicking it in a folders list, or by using Open folder from its action menu. The page opens on the selected folder and loads its children. You only see folders that have been shared with you (space admins see all folders); folder access is governed by folder roles — see the roles and access model for the full picture.

What the folder detail page shows

The page is organised around three areas: a breadcrumb at the top, the folder header (title, tags and description access), and the children list that fills the rest of the page.

  • Breadcrumb — shows the folder's position in the hierarchy, from its root folder down to the current folder. Use it to navigate back up the tree.
    • Folder title — the folder name with its icon. If you can edit the folder, the title is editable inline: click it to rename the folder in place.
      • Tags — the key/value tags attached to the folder are listed under the title.
        • Description — opened from the header (the article button, tooltip “Show folder description”). It appears in the right-hand side panel.
          • Children list — a table of everything the folder contains (sub-folders, documents, Constellab documents, notes, scenarios, resources, applications). Columns include name, owner, last-modified date, tags, status icons and a per-row action button. A search form above the table lets you filter the children. When the folder has no content, the table shows an empty message.

Click a row to select it, double-click to open it, or right-click a row (or use its action button) to open that object's own action menu. You can also select several rows at once to run bulk actions: add tags, move to folder, or move to trash.

If chat is enabled on the folder (root level only), a comment button appears in the header to open the folder chat in the side panel.

            Adding content

If you can edit the folder, the header shows an add object button (the + icon, tooltip “Add object”) with these options:

            • Create Constellab document — creates a native rich-text document in this folder and opens it for editing. The Constellab document is the one hierarchy object authored directly in the Space.
              • Create sub-folder — creates a child folder inside the current one.
                • Upload document — uploads one or more files into the folder.
                  • Upload folder — uploads a whole folder of files.

You can also drag files from your computer and drop them onto the page to upload them. Dropping a folder is not supported here — use Upload folder instead.

                    The folder action menu

The header's more button (the three-dots icon) opens the action menu for the folder you are viewing. Its contents depend on whether you are on a root folder or a sub-folder, and on your folder role. Sharing and notification configuration live only on root folders; sub-folders inherit their access and notification settings from the root.

                    Root folder actions

                    • Manage tags — add or edit the folder's tags (requires edit access).
                      • Share — grant people access to the folder and assign folder roles (owner / member / visitor). Available to folder owners only.
                        • Configure notifications — set your own notification preferences for this folder (chat messages, activity, etc.).
                          • Activities — open the folder's activity history (requires edit access).
                            • Objects in trash — view and restore objects that were moved to the folder's trash (requires edit access).
                              • Settings — open the folder settings in the side panel (requires edit access).

                                Sub-folder actions

On a sub-folder, the header action menu drops Share and Configure notifications (both inherited from the root) and keeps:

                                • Manage tags — add or edit the sub-folder's tags (requires edit access).
                                  • Activities — open the sub-folder's activity history (requires edit access).
                                    • Objects in trash — view and restore objects moved to the sub-folder's trash (requires edit access).
                                      • Settings — open the sub-folder settings in the side panel (requires edit access).

In addition, when you right-click a sub-folder row in the children table (rather than open it), its per-row menu offers folder-management actions: Open folder, Manage tags, Update folder, Move to folder, Settings and Move to trash.
