App in a folder

App in a folder

An application (or app) is an interactive app that you can launch from a folder. It appears in the folder's content list with its own app icon. Technically an app is a special kind of resource, so it behaves almost exactly like a resource in the Space — with one addition: it can be launched and used interactively.

Launching an app

The meaningful action for an app is Open in a new tab. It fetches the app's access URL and launches the running app in a new browser tab, so you can interact with it. Choosing Open resource instead opens the standard resource detail page (the same page used for any resource), not the running app.

Action menu

Because an app is a resource, it shares the same action menu as a resource. The available actions are:

  • Open resource — opens the resource detail page for the app.
    • Open in a new tab — launches the running app in a new tab.
      • Manage tags, Move to folder and Move to trash — the common actions, available when you have edit rights.

Unlike some other objects, apps do not offer sharing tokens or a dedicated share action.
