Lab configuration

The Lab configuration page is where you administrate a data lab from the Space: check its status, start and stop it, review its installed bricks, and manage who has access to it. It is an owner-oriented page — most sections are only visible to a lab owner.

Lab roles

Access to a lab is governed by two roles. Anyone with access to a lab can do anything inside the lab — there is no finer-grained permission on its content. The roles differ only in lab-level administration.

A lab can have multiple owners and must always have at least one owner.

Global information and status

The Global information card gives a live overview of the lab's health. It shows a set of status checks, each marked as OK or not OK:

  • Lab manager running — whether the lab manager service is up.
    • Lab running — whether the lab itself is running.
      • For cloud labs only: whether the server instance, the server volume and the DNS are configured.

The card also shows the current task the lab server is running, and a list of warnings and errors — for example when the containers are only partially up or down, or when the server's last task ended in error.

From this card you can also:

        • Log in to the lab (when it is running).
          • Start or stop the lab.
            • Refresh status to force an up-to-date status check.
              • Open Codelab info for the lab.

                Lab actions menu

A menu on the manager gives access to two extra actions:

                • Check status — open a dialog with detailed lab status information.
                  • Installed bricks — view the bricks currently installed in the lab. A lab's capabilities are the sum of its installed bricks.

                    Green options

For cloud labs, the Green options card lets you manage the lab's green options. Each option is listed with its type, whether it is persistent, its value and its creation date. Use the add button to create a new green option.

                    Managing lab users and access

The Users section lists everyone who has access to the lab. For each user it shows the person, their role (User or Owner), who added them, and when they were added.

Only a lab owner can change access. As an owner you can:

                    • Add a user — choose the person and assign them a role (User or Owner).
                      • Update a user's role — switch an existing member between User and Owner.
                        • Remove a user — revoke a person's access to the lab.

A lab user who is not an owner sees the list of members but has no actions to add, edit or remove access.
