Using folder chat
Folder chat is a conversation space attached to a folder, where the folder's people can talk to each other. It works like a team channel: you write messages, read what others have posted, and everyone with access to the folder shares the same conversation. It is not an AI assistant — every message comes from a real person on the folder.
The conversation view
At the top of the chat, a header shows the folder's icon and name, together with an inline list of the people who have access to the folder — the participants of the conversation.
Below the header, the messages are listed in chronological order, with the most recent message at the bottom. Scroll up to load and read older messages. Each message shows:
- the author's profile picture and first name
- how long ago the message was posted
- the message content itself, which supports rich text and images
Sending a message
Use the message box at the bottom of the chat. Type your message in the editor (it shows a Write a message placeholder when empty), then send it:
- Click the send button, or
- press
Ctrl + Enter from the editor.
To add an image to your message, use the image button next to the send button. Empty messages are not sent.
Editing and deleting your messages
You can edit or delete a message you posted, using the edit and delete buttons shown on your own messages. These actions are only available for a short window — up to five minutes after the message was posted. Deleting a message asks for confirmation before it is removed.
Notifications
New chat messages generate notifications for the folder, so participants can keep track of the conversation. Each user controls how they are notified per folder through the folder's notification settings, and the notifications panel (the bell) surfaces them across the Space.
