Applications (apps) are interactive apps produced and hosted by your data labs. From the Space, you can browse the apps available to you and launch them in a single click. This page explains what an app is, the My apps page, and the apps section on the dashboard.
What is an application?
An application is an interactive app that can be launched. Applications are produced and hosted by the data lab, and launched or shared from the Space. Technically an application is a specialised resource, but it is presented to you as a distinct concept.
Like other lab objects, an application becomes visible in the Space once it has been shared there, and it can carry tags to help you classify and find it.
The My apps page
The My apps page lists all the applications available to you. Each application is shown as a card in a grid, and the list loads more items automatically as you scroll.
App cards
Every application is displayed as a card showing:
- the application's icon, on its own background color
- the application's name
Launching an app
Selecting an app card opens the application in a new browser tab. Opening an app first loads a lightweight redirect page that fetches the app's access URL and then forwards you to the running application.
If you have no applications yet, the page shows an empty state indicating that no application is available.
Apps on the dashboard
The dashboard also includes an apps section that surfaces a short list of your applications, so you can reach them without opening the full page. It uses the same app cards, and selecting one launches the application in a new tab in the same way.
From the dashboard apps section you can:
- open an application directly from its card
- follow the all applications link to open the full My apps page
- use the add app button to add an application (available to space users)
When you don't have any applications yet, the section displays a friendly empty state inviting you to add your first app.
